Branwen – Traditional Story from Wales

This week the children have been working on a traditional story from Wales called ‘Branwen’. You can share this using the website: http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/vtc/story_of_branwen/eng/Introduction/starteractivity.htm

On Friday the children will be writing a letter to Bendigeidfran from Branwen asking for his help and describing how she is feeling. Please can you discuss this week:

* Reasons why Branwen wanted to leave Ireland – treated cruelty, missed her family, bullied by the King’s servants, made to work in the kitchen

*Bendigeidfran – colossal, strong, black-haired, brave, muscular, moving mountain etc

* The Irish Sea
