Kenfig school trip

On Tuesday 27th April class 4 went to Kenfig Nature Reserve to meet Graham Holmes and learn all about the wildlife there. The weather was kind and great fun was had by all. In the morning we went on a nature walk and managed to complete the a-z challenge - we found something beginning with every letter of the alphabet (well almost!)From horsetail to magpie, swan to whitethroat, willow warbler to fern - we spotted a huge variety of living things in their natural habitat.
Then, in the afternoon, we all went pond dipping. Some of us got water in our wellies but we all had great fun! Catches of the day included water scorpions, leeches, sticklebacks and diving beetles.
It was great fun to meet Graham and he said our class were very knowledgeable and very well behaved throughout the day...some pupils were so inspired by him knowing all the calls of the wild birds that they even bought mini binoculars from the gift shop to go and see what they could spot back on the Ffynnon Taf school fields!
