TALK HOMEWORK Monday 31st March Traditional Tales from Hawaii This week we are looking at the traditional story from Hawaii called ‘The Legend of Greedy Chief Hala’ea’. Please can you spend this week talking about the main events of the story and asking your child to retell the story in their own words. Whilst they are retelling the story (orally) encourage them to add adjectives to describe Hala’ea’, the sea, the fishermen etc. The children should also be encouraged to start their sentences in different ways e.g. *with a ly word e.g. slowly, carefully, cautiously * with a time connective e.g. before he knew it, then, next, following this *with a feeling e.g. Furious, Hala’ea returned to the fisherman. Please can you also ‘steal’ any WOW words from the story that they could use in their writing. The spellings for this week are: father, above, buy, come, love, another.
