Our topic for the next
term half term is called ‘Dens and Dandelions'. It focuses primarily on science,
learning about a range of different woodland animals and which habitats they live
in. For this homework, we are asking adults to support children in producing a minimum
of 2 pieces of homework over the 7 weeks we will be focusing on our topic. This
could be anything from, writing, art work, design technology, science investigations
or research.
Here are some ideas to get your child started:
* Make bark rubbings of a tree
in the local area or garden
* Visit local woodland and complete a
workbook. This can be downloaded from
the following site: http://www.naturedetectives.org.uk/download/booklet_woodlandlog.htm
or ask for a copy from us at school
* Measure natural objects such
as leaves and trees
* Build a home for a woodland animal
* Design a woodland area
* Draw/sketch/paint/collage/model
a woodland animal
* Make a bar graph to show the
most common wild flower or plant growing in the local area or garden
* Create 2-D and 3‐D shapes
using natural materials
* Read a story about woodland
animals and write a review
