TALK HOMEWORK Monday 14th October

Acrostic Poems

This week we are going to be writing an acrostic style poem based on Happiness.

Acrostics are a fun poetic form that anyone can write. To begin with, an acrostic is a poem in which the first letters of each line spell out a word or phrase. Usually, the first letter of each line is capitalised. This makes it easier to see the word spelled out vertically down the page. Acrostics are easy to write because they don’t need to rhyme, and you don’t need to worry about the rhythm of the lines. Each line can be as long or as short as you want it to be.

Please can you spend this week with your child discussing:
·        Places that make you child happy
·        People that make your child happy
·        Things/activities or belongings that make them happy
·        What happiness means to them
·        Any sayings they have learnt about happiness that they would like to include.

This week’s spellings are:

that, this, back, with, them
