Croeso i Ddosbarth Coala

A new academic year is upon us again so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and inform you of the organisation within Class Coala. I am the class teacher, Mrs Howells and we are very lucky to have Mrs Stevens working with us full time also.

Your child will receive homework once a fortnight, given on a Monday to be returned by the following Monday.  This will usually be an extension to work completed in class.  In addition to this, the children will be required to read at home two or three times a week with an adult and will receive weekly ‘Talk Homework’. They will also receive weekly spellings.

Please see the blog message below to see the exciting activities we will be doing this term through out topic ‘Fun at the Farm’.

We want to make the change of class as easy as possible for your child.

You can help them by:
·        *Ensuring that ALL their possessions, especially fleeces, sweatshirts and other belongings are        easily identifiable. Sewn in name tapes are best for clothing as ‘written on’ names do not last.
·        *Encouraging your child’s growing independence – letting them sort out their own lunchbox,              snack, coat, shoes etc. We understand that this takes them time at first and allow for it.
·        *Listening to them read, or ask them about their books and encourage them to read every day.
·       *Practising numeracy skills in a friendly and informal way – number games, mental arithmetic            and table facts 2, 3, 4, 5, 10.
* Encouraging and supporting them to do their homework by themselves.
* Coming and asking if you or your child have any worries   –   however small

Other Important Information
·       *The children will need to bring their own snack in for break or can obtain a piece of fruit from          our tuck shop. (Most items 30 pence).
·      *The children will line up before school at the entrance to the junior building closest to the car           park.
·      *The children will exit at the end of the day by the same entrance - one by one when their parent      or guardian arrives (you may wait in the yard outside this exit). Please can you let us know if          there is a change to the parent or guardian who usually picks up your child.
·   *There will be a Parent Notice Board just outside the classroom displaying any important         information or letters that have been given out etc.
·     *Please let us know ASAP of any medical needs that your child may have.

Things you will need in Dosbarth Coala

*Please can your child bring a bottle or beaker of water to school
each day.
* Please can your child bring their reading book and record booklet into school every day.
* P.E. kit - dark shorts, white t–shirt or their house colour, plimsolls or trainers, in a small bag.  This will be kept in school. This can be brought into school as soon as possible.
* PE Day—PE will be on a Wednesday.
No jewellery is to be worn during PE lessons and long hair must be tied back.  If for some reason your child is unable to participate in PE a letter with a valid reason must be provided.

* A SCHOOL book bag - Please do NOT bring rucksacks or large bags to school - we haven’t room!
