Talk Homework – Monday 31st October

This week the talk homework is to discuss items that you would find in a Samaritan’s pocket.  This could include actual qualities they possess e.g. kindness, helpfulness, care, concern for others, honesty, trust, understanding, patience, forgiveness, respects others, the ability to listen, unselfishness, puts others first, courage but also some actual objects from places they have visited or people they have helped e.g. a tear drop from a hungry child, a hug from a wounded soldier etc. Encourage your child to add WOW describing words to their item.  On Friday we will be writing a poem called ‘Ten Things found in a Samaritan’s Pocket. I have included examples of similar poems below:

Ten things found in a Shipwrecked Sailor’s Pocket
Ian McMillan

A litre of sea.
An unhappy jellyfish.
A small piece of lifeboat.
A pencil wrapped around with seaweed.
A soaking feather.
The first page of a book called ‘Swimming is Easy’.
A folded chart showing dangerous rocks.
A photograph of a little girl in a red dress.
A gold coin.
A letter from a mermaid.

Ten things found in a Wizard’s Pocket
A dark night.
Some words that nobody could ever spell.
A glass of water full to the top.
A large elephant.
A vest made from spiders' webs.
A handkerchief the size of a car park.
A bill from the wand shop.
A bucket full of stars and planets, to mix with the dark night.
A bag of magic mints you can suck forever.
A snoring rabbit.
