Tuesday 8th May Talk Homework

We have been studying the Jewish Sabbath and finding out how and why the Jewish community have a day of rest every Saturday. On Friday we will be writing a diary entry as though we were a Jewish child preparing and experiencing the Jewish Shabbat. I would like you to include in your talk this week: what you would see e.g. challah loaf, candles, torah, Kiddush cup, family and friends, the synagogue, smell – challah loaf, food, spices, candles, hear – Shabbat songs, father reading from the prayer book, laughter, stories, feel – relaxed, happy, content and your thoughts - use wow words also.  Discuss the preparations for the Jewish Sabbath and what they do doing the actual day. How did you feel before? During?  After the event?

Please feel free to make notes or stick in images or drawings in the children’s treasuries if you wish. I have included some facts to help but hopefully the children will surprise you with what they have already learned.
