Talk Homework
Monday 5th November
This week the children will be writing a diary entry to reflect on their personal experience of their trip to St Fagans.
Please talk about the following:
- what they saw, in particular, the artefacts in the houses and describe these using wow words.
-what they heard, smelt and how things felt to touch
- their thoughts and feelings, consider what it must have been like to live in one of these homes
- similarities and differences between the houses they saw and their own house e.g. furniture, layout, building materials, toys
This would also be a fabulous opportunity to discuss:
- similarities and differences between the houses they saw and the ones that you (mum, dad, grand-dad etc) lived in and share any knowledge and memories about the type of house, artefacts within them
- what life was like when you were younger, the toys and games you played, jobs, hobbies with etc.
- the most interesting thing they found out or learnt at St Fagans
When talking with your child encourage them to use:
- first person, 'I saw, caught glimpse of, found, discovered, witnessed...'
- past tense
- time words, (connectives) such as First... Later... Next... After that... When I... As I...
Enjoy talking and reminiscing!
Don't forget to use your Treasury Books if you would like to record any thoughts or ideas etc.
THIS WOULD BE BEST COMPLETED ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY AFTER THE TRIP.
