BIG TALK – Seven Lies about Superheroes
Monday 18th February

This week we are studying the poem ‘Seven Lies about Trees’. Read the poem attached and discuss the lies.  Ask the children why they are lies and what the actual truth is.

Please spend time discussing with your children what a hero is and what lies could we make up about superheroes.  Here is a poem that may help e.g.

Superheroes are not there in your hour of need.
They will never stand by your side.
Their courage and selflessness is nowhere to be seen.
But instead is replaced by complaints and moans and groans.
People despise them and wouldn’t want them as a friend
Flying, fighting, special powers is what they have,
And wearing capes, masks and gadgets is a must!

It may be useful to make a list of all the qualities or possessions that a hero has
and turn them into lies.

YOU MAY MAKE NOTES IN YOUR TREASURY IF YOU WISH BUT IT IS
NOT ESSENTIAL.

Have fun and remember the more talk the better!
