Firstly, they needed to research the different types of boats that exist.
Following this, the children investigated the different types of pulleys and levers that exist and then the children explored making their own. They are going to need a pulley or lever on their boat to help lift the heavy cargo for Captain Scott!
The children have also been busy investigating which shape sail and hull are most suitable for a boat and whether the shape of a the hull affects how much cargo it can hold.
Next, Dobarth Coala enthusiastically created their own time line to show how Cardiff Bay has changed over the ages.
Mrs Stevens has also been working with the children to explore jets and planes and the children have been practising drawing schemas for planes.
We took a short break from Land Ahoy during Assessment Week and have been doing some RE 'Our Wonderful World'. The children have been learning about the Creation Story and ways in which they can damage and look after the environment. They have wrote stories, created posters, wrote hopes for the future and produced collages of the creation story.
We are ready for half term I think!
