A Recipe for a Happy School

This week we are looking at recipes.  On Friday we are going to write a recipe for a happy school.  Please could you spend this week talking about the following:
·         Ingredients for a happy school – kindness, smiles, patience, friendliness, good listening, hard work, shared laughter, daily triumph, consideration, high hopes and expectations, etc.
·         Quantities we could use e.g. a spoonful, a handful, a pinch, a drop etc
·         Bossy words that we could use to start our instructions for the recipe e.g. add, stir, grate, cut, slice etc.

You can make notes in your treasury or stick pictures if you wish.  I have included an example on such a recipe for you to read written by a teacher herself.  This is just to give you an idea of our aim although the children’s will be a lot simpler.

Teacher’s Recipe for a Happy Class

1. Start with a pot of wide-eyed children.
2. Add a variety of personalities, abilities, and talents for spice.
3. Toss in a pinch of patience and a dash of discipline.
4. Season with delightful discoveries and lots of learning.
5. Stir in a cup or two of challenges to keep the ingredients working together.
6. Invite expert chefs—the parents, guardians, and family members—to share in the creation of this new dish.
7. Mix well, stirring frequently until the class blends together smoothly.
8. Simmer from September until June.
9. Serve with a healthful helping of self-confidence.

10. Suggestions for Storage: To avoid spoilage during the hot summer months, sprinkle with a generous amount of cool company, refreshing reading, and sunny skies. Store in an air-tight container of love and laughter.
