TALK Homework Monday 1st December 2014

Christmas is coming!
Friday will be our last Big Write session for the term and I will be using this piece of writing to assess the children’s progress this term.  Therefore I have decided to base this piece of writing on the traditional story of Christmas.  On Friday, the children are going to retell the traditional story of Christmas in their own words.  Please could you discuss the following:
Who was involved?  Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, The Wise Men, angel Gabriel, innkeeper, shepherds,
Where? Nazareth, Bethlehem
What happened? Baby Jesus was born, God’s son, to Mary and Joseph in a stable in Bethlehem.
When? 25th December
There is a lovely interactive story for you to share on the website below:
or why not curl up with a book and share the story together. Pay particular attention to key words e.g. frankincense, myrrh, gold, star, stable, inn, manger, shepherds, peace and goodwill, taxes and their meaning.
You may also want to make a note in your treasuries of any WOW words you could include within your story to extend your sentences e.g.  Gently, Mary laid Jesus to sleep in a wooden manager swathed in a crisp white cloth
A new sparkling star shone in the crisp, cold night sky.
Finally, a kind, humble innkeeper took pity on them and allowed them to rest within his cold but welcoming stable.
Have fun and enjoy the countdown to Christmas!
Spellings: watch, their, have, came, make, small
