Monday 13 th January - Talk Homework
This week we will be reading the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’
and on Friday we will be writing the story from one of the seagulls’ viewpoints. Every
day, Mr Grinling, the lighthouse keeper cleans and polishes his light to make
sure it shines brightly at night. At lunchtime he tucks into a delicious and
well-deserved lunch, prepared by his wife. But Mr Grinling isn't the only one
who enjoys the tasty food. Will Mrs Grinling think of a way to stop the greedy
seagulls from stealing the lighthouse keeper's lunch? You
can listen to this story on the following website: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfkZpKh5rU8
After watching the
story please can you spend some time discussing:
*what happens in the
beginning, middle and ending of the story
*why do the seagulls
do what they do? How do they feel towards Mr Grinling? His wife?
*words to describe
the sea, the weather, Mr Grinling, his wife, the lighthouse
*any WOW words in the
story that they can use in their own writing on Friday.
Make notes in the
treasury this week. Please can you also
support the children in learning these spellings this week:
which, when, made, for, girl, out
