TALK HOMEWORK Monday 20th January
This
week we are studying Electricity and in our Big Write on Friday we will be
writing a safety booklet on ‘Electricity in the Home’. The following site provides examples of how
to keep safe at home: http://www.switchedonkids.org.uk/electrical-safety-in-your-home. Please can you spend this week talking about:
- Why electricity can be dangerous and what
we can do to be safe around it?
- Use
the website to help the children to talk the electrical hazards in the
home.
- Discuss electrical appliances that are
used in the rooms of our homes and what we have to do to be careful around
them.
- Help
the children make a list of Do’s and Don’ts around electricity, e.g.
- Do:
i. Ask
an adult for help to change a light bulb
ii. Turn
off electrical appliances when not in use
- Don’t:
i. Put
drinks or any liquid on or above electrical equipment
ii. Touch
electrical appliances with wet hands (THEY DO NOT NEED TO WRITE
THIS DOWN)
