This week we are looking at another
traditional story from Greece called King Midas and his Golden Touch. Read the
story together and discuss the following:
·
What
did King Midas wish for? Why?
·
If
you had one wish what would it be?
·
How
did King Midas’s wish turn against him?
· What
do you think King Midas has learned from this whole experience?
· What
are the positive and negative points of being able to turn things into gold?
· Key
words used during the story: King Midas, God Dionysus, satyr, Silenus, hospitality, River Pactolus, Greece, foolish, greedy etc
· Can
you think of a time when you have been selfish or greedy?
On Friday we will pretend we are King
Midas and will be writing a letter to the god Dionysus thanking him for the
wish but apologising for being greedy and selfish and telling him what we have
learned from the whole experience.
Enjoy reading and discussing the
story.
