Monday 24th October Talk Homework

Dosbarth Coala, I am extremely proud of you all for all the effort you are putting into your Talk Homework.  It is having an immense impact on your writing.  Keep it up!  Ardderchog!

This week we are looking at instructional writing again.  On Friday we will be writing a set of instructions on how to wash your hands as this is extremely important and links in with our topic of Paws, Jaws and Claws and handling animals.  Please use the attached sheet with your child. Cut up the images and encourage them to put them in the right order.  Encourage the language first, next, then, after that, finally etc. Ask them to suggest a bossy verb they could use in the instruction for each image e.g. wet, rinse, dry, rub, turn, lather, scrub etc.

Spend time talking about:
*When we should wash our hands?
*Why should we wash our hands?
*What happens if we don’t wash our hands?

To further their instructional writing from last week I am focusing this week on using adverbs within their instructions for example, rinse your hands thoroughly.  Talk about adverbs that could be used e.g. carefully, thoroughly, slowly, approximately etc.

Have fun, use your treasury if you wish.
