TALK HOMEWORK Monday 17th March Traditional Tales from Hawaii This week we are looking at the traditional story from Hawaii called ‘Punia and the King of Sharks’. Please can you spend this week talking about the main events of the story and asking your child to retell the story in their own words. Whilst they are retelling the story (orally) encourage them to add adjectives to describe Punia, the shark, the sea etc. The children should also be encouraged to start their sentences in different ways e.g. *with a ly word e.g. slowly, carefully, cautiously * with a time connective e.g. before he knew it, then, next, following this *with a feeling e.g. Petrified, Punia returned to the shores. The spellings for this week are: someone, everyone, only, talk, people and this week we are ensuring that the children are confident with spelling their surnames.
