BIG TALK Homework Monday 7th January
Branwen – Traditional Story from Wales

This week the children have been working on a traditional story from Wales called ‘Branwen’. You can share this using the website: http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/vtc/story_of_branwen/eng/Introduction/starteractivity.htm
Please can you discuss:
* Reasons why Branwen wanted to leave Ireland – treated cruelty, missed her family, bullied by the King’s servants, made to work in the kitchen
*Bendigeidfran – colossal, strong, black-haired, brave, muscular, moving mountain etc
*Word to describe The Irish Sea
*Persuasive words to describe her cruelty - brutal, terrible, unbelievable, cruel, inhumane, sorrowful etc or words to describe her family and home - loving, beautiful, breath-taking etc.

On Friday the children we will be writing a letter to King Matholwch of Ireland persuading him why he should release Branwen and let her return to Wales, her home country.
Remember the more talk the better! You can make notes in your treasury if you wish.
